Development Project Engineer to join our staff in Knoxville, TN .
Primary Function We are looking for someone excited to work with
our Knoxville civil engineering team that performs a variety of
engineering tasks involving design work, research, and preparation
of drawings and designs for site layout, horizontal utility
projects (water, wastewater, stormwater), site grading, and
drainage, including permitting and planning to serve both
municipalities and private clients. Local project and client
experience in the Middle Tennessee area will be essential for this
opportunity. Our diverse clientele encompasses projects that vary
from campgrounds to multi-family developments, national franchises,
large-scale developments, as well as municipal and government
projects. Primary Duties Assist in planning, designing, and
developing civil engineering projects such as roads, utilities,
drainage systems, site development, and infrastructure
improvements. Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and
calculations under the supervision of senior engineers. Conduct
feasibility studies, site assessments, and preliminary design
evaluations. Perform engineering analyses (grading, stormwater,
earthwork, structural components, traffic flow, etc.). Use
engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or
similar tools to produce technical deliverables. Ensure engineering
solutions comply with codes, standards, and regulatory
requirements. Prepare and submit permit applications (e.g.,
grading, environmental, utility, stormwater). Communicate with
local jurisdictions, regulatory agencies, and utility companies to
ensure compliance. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s
or master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited
university or college. 5-8 years of related experience in process,
engineering, and design. Tennessee PE license is required. Local
knowledge of agency requirements. Experience preparing final design
plans, specifications and construction cost estimates. Excellent
written, oral and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical
and problem-solving skills. Self-motivating, team-oriented work
practices, strong analysis and organizational skills. Proficiency
with Civil 3D drafting and design. Proficiency with Microsoft Word
