Director of Security Establishes operational procedures for activities such as fire prevention, traffic control, guarding and patrolling physical property, orienting and monitoring of personnel involved with classified information, and investigation of accidents and criminal acts. Confers with representatives of management to formulate policies, determine need for programs, and coordinate programs with staffed personnel. Confers with representatives of local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of organization?s activities with law enforcement and firefighting agencies. Directs activities of staffed personnel. Provides efficient policing of premises, maintain public order, provide comfort and safety to patrons and protect the best interests of the property. Establish and administer procedures used when handling guest and employee injuries and assure adherence to these policies and procedures. Implement policies and procedures to deter employee theft. Prepare annual budgets and operating forecasts, prepare regular and special reports see that necessary records and files are maintained. Responsible for the hiring, training and terminating of all security employees. Determines manpower requirements of the department and establish or approves shift schedules to provide maximum security and service to patrons, consistent with operational and seasonal demands. Counsels, guides, instructs and disciplines assigned personnel in the proper performance of their duties. Prepares and coordinates the periodical performance review of assigned personnel. Establish, monitor and conduct the Safety Program for hotel/casino employees. Monitor the Hotel Safety Program and all contracts for fire protection equipment. Monitor all building and electrical work to ensure compliance with the Building and Electrical Codes. Monitor the Hazard Communication Program to ensure compliance with OSHA Reg. 1910.1200. Develop, maintain, update and evaluate the Emergency Procedure and Hotel Safety Manual. Daily walk through the casino, all restaurants and kitchens, shops and around outside grounds for a fire/safety and OSHA compliance check. Daily inspect all restaurant hood and duct systems to ensure contractors are cleaning the system properly. Establish and conduct training for all kitchen employees to ensure their knowledge of the fire extinguishing system. Investigate all fires and employee accidents on the property. Determine cause and origin and make recommendations to preclude reoccurrence. Accompany the Fire Inspector on fire inspections. Discuss fire code violations and take corrective actions as needed. Accompany inspectors from the state on their inspections on the hotel premises. Monitor the smoke detector test and inspection of all in-room smoke detector devices. Instruct Security Department on the use of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus and conduct the yearly re-certification program in accordance with OSHA standards. Conduct periodic safety programs for employees on hazardous materials and particular topics unique to their department. Attend scheduled meetings concerning construction projects and provide safety requirement data. Monitor guest and employee job related injury/accidents. Suggest possible corrective measures. Establish, train, and monitor the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), and Bloodborne Pathogen program according to OSHA CFR 1910.1030. Inspect monthly all hotel fire protection systems, i.e., fire extinguishers, risers, fire pumps, post indicator valves, etc. Resolution of guest complaints. Interfaces with department heads, attorney, insurance brokers, adjusters and various governmental agencies. Investigates and coordinates all general liability claims and handles reserving claims and settlement negotiations. Assist workers compensation with accident investigations, trends and hazard abatement. Identifying and analyzing property, liability and personnel loss exposures. Monitor Security and Surveillance activities to identify risk factors.
