Experience: Minimum 1 year in Radiology; less than 1 year in CT
preferred License: Required Minimum License(s): ARRT Radiography,
ARRT Computed Tomography, Basic Life Support (BLS) Certifications:
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated
Must-Have: Excellent communication skills, ability to function
independently and under pressure, attention to detail, ability to
multitask, customer service skills Description: Must be flexible
with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable,
accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe,
age-appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams
according to procedures. Has knowledge and ability to properly and
safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for
performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring
independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Able to
independently perform job functions and set up equipment for
imaging services. Positions patients for the procedure. Verifies
proper clinician orders for procedures. Obtains complete clinical
history, gathers examination data, and assesses for
contraindicating conditions. Follows established procedures for the
administration of contrast media to ensure patient safety. Ensures
all studies have proper patient identification and that markers are
utilized appropriately. Reviews CT/radiographic images for
clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to
emergency situations and assists with the maintenance of life
support equipment. Assists other technologists in all modalities as
needed. Observes patient conditions and evaluates situations when
physician intervention is necessary. Verifies the correct identity
of patients using two unique identifiers prior to procedures.
Ensures patient privacy and comfort while maintaining dignity
throughout the procedures. Demonstrates competence in the
determination and application of appropriate procedures, equipment,
and techniques based on patient age. Organizes schedule, time, and
priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time
frames. Follows physicians' instructions when assisting with
procedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency with loading and
operating power injection. Uses critical thinking skills and
communicates effectively with patients and families. Seeks
clarification on ambiguous orders and understands pre-and
post-procedural care. Preps patients for procedures and
demonstrates sterile technique. Maintains competency with
venipuncture. Adjusts techniques to ensure the patient receives the
lowest possible dose of radiation while maintaining image quality.
Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisors for timely
correction. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment as per
infection control policy. Clearly explains the purpose and nature
of exams to patients before procedures to minimize anxiety. Ensures
that patients’ questions and concerns are satisfactorily addressed
and notifies physicians as needed. Participates in the orientation
and training of departmental employees. Provides patients with
preparatory instructions and explanations of procedures. Documents
concise and legible records with precise terminology. Reads emails
daily and follows through with assignments. Completes mandatory
education without prompting. Consistently produces acceptable
images as evidenced by feedback and quality audits. Ensures all
equipment is operational before use, checking for calibration and
operating deficiencies. Sends all studies to PACS immediately after
completion and prints CDs as needed. Restocks linens and supplies,
maintaining the department in a clean condition. Transports and
positions patients, assisting them on and off the procedure table.
Performs patient charging activities on the day of service. Applies
shielding, supportive, and immobilization devices as needed.
Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others as required.
Performs routine duties of clerical personnel as warranted to
ensure continuity. Informs supervisors about responsibilities and
potential issues promptly. Maintains an individual productivity
rate comparable to co-workers. Operates all workstations associated
with the CT department. Maintains compliance with regulatory
standards. Takes call when necessary. Performs other duties as
assigned. Complies with all policies and standards of work.
