Mammography Tech Location: Marietta, GA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,300 per week Shift Information: Days - 4 days x 10 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Mammography Technologist Profession: Mammography Specialty: Imaging Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist and 1 year experience in Mammography License: ARRT-M, ARRT-R, BLS Certifications: ARRT-M - ARRT Mammography ARRT-R - ARRT Radiography BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor Must-Have: Excellent communication skills. Ability to function independently and under pressure. Excellent customer service skills. Detail-oriented with the capacity to multitask. Understanding of anatomy and pathology as they affect quality of procedures. Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams according to department procedures. Knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study are required. Responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in using the equipment for diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up equipment to provide imaging service and positions patients for procedures. Must maintain minimum FDA/MQSA requirements for continuing education, experience, and equipment. Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Ensures all studies have proper patient identification and right and left markers are utilized appropriately. Reviews radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency situations using critical thinking skills. Seeks clarification on ambiguous orders. Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed. Observes patient condition and evaluates situations when physician intervention is necessary. Verifies two unique patient identifiers per policy and verifies proper clinician order prior to performing a procedure. Ensures patient privacy and comfort are accommodated. Demonstrates competence in determining and applying appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies, and techniques based on patient age. Understands and documents pre-procedure verification and time-out processes when applicable. Demonstrates and understands pre-and post-procedural care when applicable. Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames. Follows physician instructions when assisting with procedures and exams. Practices read back and confirm when taking verbal orders. Demonstrates the ability to adjust technique to obtain the best study possible and maintain image quality. Reports problems regarding malfunctioning equipment to a supervisor or service provider. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policies and department cleaning schedules. Ensures the ability to properly operate all radiographic equipment in a safe and competent manner. Patiently explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients prior to starting procedures to minimize anxiety. Ensures that patient’s questions, concerns, or contraindications are satisfactorily addressed. Participates in orientation and training of departmental employees. Provides patients with preparatory instruction and explanation of procedures. Documentation is concise, legible, and includes precise terminology. Completes mandatory departmental and education training without prompting. Produces acceptable images, maintaining a first-time acceptance rate of 95 percent. Ensures equipment is fully operational prior to use, checking for proper calibration and operating deficiencies. Completes all studies in the system, ensuring images are oriented, marked, labeled, and noted correctly. Maintains documentation to meet accreditation standards. Completes and documents quality control tests as required. Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining the department in a clean and orderly condition. Transports and positions patients, assisting them on and off procedure tables. Performs patient charging activities on the day the service is rendered. Applies shielding and prepares patient follow-up data. Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others as needed. Performs routine duties of clerical and support personnel as needed to ensure continuity of services. Keeps supervisor informed of responsibilities and promptly notifies in the event of problems. Maintains an individual productivity rate equal to co-workers. Familiar with tracking system and regulatory standards. Performs other duties as assigned.
