Job Description:

Summary Performs those duties, under policies and procedures
approved by the Laboratory Director and/or designees, and
laboratory management that are exempt from State of Tennessee
laboratory personnel licensing laws. These duties may include
performing phlebotomy and specimen collection, the initiation of
pre-testing protocols, the performance of waived testing, clerical
office duties, housekeeping, inventory management, phone duty, and
courier duties as assigned. Essential Functions All team members

Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection. Coordinates assigned
duties to achieve maximum productivity. Maintains a work pace that
is fast and accurate. Follows all patient identification
procedures. Demonstrates the flexibility to adjust workflow in
response to stat orders, emergencies, and other fluctuations in
workload. Assists in the division of workload to achieve maximum
productivity. Has complete understanding of procedures and policies
pertaining to assigned work. Performs duties in an independent
manner with limited supervision. Endeavors to continually improve
job skills. Completes duties and uses time between jobs to
departments advantage, assisting others, clerical, supply
inventory, etc. Consistently combines judgment skills to assess
situations, considers alternatives and chooses appropriate course
of action. Determine the timing and correlation of laboratory
orders. Works with nursing or other ordering providers in determine
the timing and correlation of laboratory orders. Accurately
transcribes laboratory orders and/or accession laboratory
specimens. Initiates pre-testing protocols. Performs waived
testing. Uses all instruments / equipment in manner consistent with
its intended function. Has sufficient knowledge of instruments /
equipment to perform routine maintenance and address error codes.
Performs all calibration functions. Performs all quality control
functions. Performs clerical office duties. Performs courier duties
and maintains a safe driving record. Performs inventory management.
Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management
Responsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a
supervisor, manager, director or executive. Minimum Requirements
Education - High School diploma or equivalent or post-high school
diploma Experience - One (1) phlebotomy experience. Must
successfully complete on the job orientation for assigned duties.
In Lieu Of NA Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
American Society of Clinical Pathologists( ASCP), OR American
Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT), OR National Health career
Association (NHA), OR American Medical Technologists (AMT)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough technical knowledge of
phlebotomy / Highly developed phlebotomy skills. Computer skills to
operate multiple operational systems with proficient typing skills.
Customer service skills Mathematical skills Communication skills
Ability to understand instructions, reason, and make judgments.
Ability to adjust workflow in response to stat orders, emergencies,
