skills Description: The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive
member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed
caregivers. This role ensures that patients, families, and
significant others receive individualized, high-quality, and safe
patient care. The nurse practices in a clinical environment
administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The framework for
practice is guided by a professional practice model and
evidence-based practices. Core responsibilities include performing
the nursing process in clinical care, using analytical and critical
thinking to ensure individualized care. Relationship-based
patient-centered care must be provided, adapting service delivery
to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity. The RN will
partner with patients and their significant others, keeping them
updated and focused on the patients’ goals. Documentation of safe,
quality patient care promotes a professional delivery model and
participatory interdisciplinary communication. The RN demonstrates
teamwork by promoting a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
