Job Description Job Description Job Summary The Shipping/Receiving Clerk I is responsible for handling, preparing, and managing all activities related to shipping various products with minimal supervision. The role also includes receiving, verifying, and checking incoming materials and supplies to ensure accuracy in relation to purchase orders. Key Responsibilities • Ship products according to shipping orders, complete bills of lading, and perform all associated shipping tasks. • Wrap or arrange materials in shipping containers using appropriate packing materials and ensure products are properly packed. • Interpret packing specifications and determine container sizes and dimensions from drawings or equipment measurements. • Select the correct barrier and cushioning materials as well as required hardware such as nails, nuts, and bolts. • Fabricate wooden crates and apply specified packaging materials. • Pack crates using steel strapping and stencil them with the required addresses. • Check package contents for conformity with shipping orders, address packages, and accurately weigh items. • Maintain accurate shipment records and obtain proper receipts from carriers. • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, hoists, and pump trucks. • Keep working areas clean and organized. • Perform other related duties as assigned. • Identify and receive all incoming materials, verifying accuracy of shipments. • Document discrepancies on packing slips and forward them to the appropriate department. • Record counts in the computer system using barcoding tools. • Print and affix bar code labels on received materials. • Maintain cleanliness in all working areas, including the Received Goods area. • Execute additional related tasks as required. Required Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Previous warehouse experience and proficiency in operating forklifts. • Reliable transportation is required. • 1–3 years of relevant work experience.
