Position Type: Regular Scheduled Hours per 2 week Pay Period: 80 Primary Location: TN > CLEVELAND > MOUSE CREEK-PUBLIX CENTER Job Summary: The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for utilizing training and skills to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a physician.   As an advanced practice nurse, knowledge of disease prevention, diagnosis and the management of health care problems is essential. Knowledge of treatment plans, diagnostic testing, medications and other forms of therapy.   Ability to use necessary equipment for office treatment/care of patient.   Ability to effectively communicate with staff, patients and community regarding health care issues.   Maintains a basic understanding of health insurance plans to assure proper handling of patient referrals and outpatient testing.   Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and procedures. Job Responsibilities: Obtain medical histories when necessary. Perform physical exams (within established protocol). Diagnose, treat and monitor chronic diseases (within protocol guidelines). Order diagnostic test. Prescribe or recommend medications for prescription for medications and treatment (within protocol guidelines). Provide preventive health screenings and immunizations for children and adults. Promote positive lifestyle habits to all patients through education and counseling. Assist the doctor with office surgeries. Assure charts are signed off by the doctor within 7 days. Maintain patients’ privacy and confidentiality. Make follow up calls to check patients progress. Assist doctors with phone coverage and hospital rounds. Work closely with other nurses to assure patient flow is efficient. Consult with doctor regarding patient symptoms to assure proper diagnosis and plan of treatment. Performs other duties as assigned. Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing, licensed as RN in the State of Tennessee Master’s Degree in Nursing with Advance Practice Certification for nurse practitioner by a national certifying organization recognized by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. Experience: 3-5 years family practice experience required. License/Certification: Licensed as a CRNP in state. BLS required.
