Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements and documents
nursing care. Assists physicians during examinations and
procedures. Performs various patient tests and administers
medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse.
Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals
and teaching patients and families to understand conditions,
medications, and self-care skills.
The ER Nurse, under supervision of the Nurse Manager and the
nursing supervisor is responsible for the nursing care of the
patients in the emergency department and is responsible for the
direction of patient care. The RN delivers care based on patient
needs appropriate for the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adults,
and geriatric patients. He/she demonstrates an interest in patient
centered approach to total nursing care. Demonstrates cooperation,
flexibility, and resourcefulness when dealing with patients,
visitors, physicians, and hospital personnel. The RN shall be
responsible for planning, supervising and evaluating the nursing
care of patients and for correlating the nursing process, the
medical plan of care and policies.
Education: Must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing as
evidenced by verification of state licensure.
Diploma or transcripts must be provided upon hire.
Experience: At least two years of experience in a hospital or
medically related environment preferred.
Licenses/Certificates: Current Tennessee or Compact State
registered nurse license required. BLS certification required. ACLS
and PALS within 6 months of assignment to the Emergency Department,
if not current.
