Who you are:
We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our
growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a strong Senior IT
Applications Specialist who ishighly motivated and very passionate
about the company's success, growth, and service quality. Youwill
have superior analytical and problem-solving skills, high internal
client satisfaction standards, and timeliness. This role will be
pivotal in exploring, designing, and deploying AI solutions,
including chatbots and advanced search functionalities, to enhance
IT services and improve employee productivity.
What you'll do:
The Senior IT Applications Specialist is responsible for the
design, configuration, implementation and maintenance of Geotab's
IT application systems. This position is also responsible to
maintain a secure and highly available application environment. You
will be responsible for identifying and implementing features,
functions and capabilities to support internal client business
plans. Role includes investigating and troubleshooting application
issues of a complex nature, identifying improvement in existing
applications, and clearly communicating these to the appropriate
teams. This position requires you to work with other internal and
external resources to maximize business benefits associated with
these applications.
How you'll make an impact
Understands how their work as an application specialist fits into
Geotab's ecosystem, takes initiative to identify problems and
propose team projects that resolve them.
Owns design, planning, execution and testing for projects,
enhancements and break/fix issues.
End-to-end responsibility for designing, implementation and
maintaining of managed enterprise IT applications.
Works with their team and adjacent teams to solve problems.
Escalates problems that have wider scope. More senior involvement
in problem solving and encouraging team members to work through
issues that have a more narrow scope.
Establish relationships with various teams in order to troubleshoot
issues and develop long term solutions effectively.
Design, configure, implement and maintain applications and service
requirements while researching and establishing best practices.
Lead and/or participate in projects as a technical subject matter
expert.
Analyzing new functionality in application releases to determine
how it should be used.
Plan, coordinate and test upgrades for enterprise applications,
recommending changes for improvement as needed while ensuring
systems will operate correctly in current and future
environments.
Work closely with business owners in order to understand business
needs and manage expectations of users being supported.
Perform daily health checks to detect issues and minimize
downtime.
Performance tuning by identifying ways to maximize the potential
and ensure high availability of applications.
Identify and resolve medium to highly complex production problems
for supported applications.
Provide advice and recommendations to management regarding
technology directions, decisions, security policy, and roadmap.
Lead and ensure in-depth analysis of problems and initiate
corrective actions and implementation of preventative measures.
Lead in knowledge transfer sessions and documentation, mentor
peers.
Create and maintain SOP's for application portfolio including other
technical documentation to be used by internal Geotab technical and
non-technical teams.
Write and maintain automation scripts and leverage configuration
management to increase system efficiency and effectiveness.
Maintain application monitoring / alerting capability.
Maintain knowledge of docker containers in a production
environment.
Management of global Active Directory infrastructure including
patching and general maintenance.
Manage Google Workspace within Geotab's corporate system and
service environment.
Experience managing Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution's.
Zero Trust Architecture management.
Ability to effectively prioritize multiple requests, projects, and
activities typically working under pressure.
Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation.
Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule (if
applicable).
Lead the implementation and management of AI-driven IT solutions,
such as conversational AI for internal support and intelligent
search tools.
Identify and evaluate opportunities to apply AI for solving
business challenges and enhancing overall employee productivity and
experience.
Champion AI-inspired change enablement and management practices
within the IT department and broader organization.
What you'll bring to the role
5 - 8 years of experience in technical, functional & system support
of IT applications.
5 - 8 years experience with Cloud Platforms (platform components,
assembling applications, and run-time architecture).
Advanced knowledge of ChromeOS, Windows, Mac, and Linux OS
installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Advanced knowledge of SSO methodologies (SAML & LDAPS).
Strong programming/scripting knowledge - Powershell, Python, Bash,
etc.
Expert in managing and supporting Linux-based environments.
Expert in managing and configuring Active Directory/Group
Policy.
Experience with cloud computing platforms including Google Cloud,
AWS, and Microsoft Azure.
Experience with Zero Trust Architecture.
Able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing
priorities and deadlines.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects
simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of
the organization.
Strong technical competence using software programs, including, but
not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs,
Slides).
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
Experience with or a strong demonstrated aptitude for implementing
AI solutions (e.g., chatbots, AI-powered search, process
automation) within an enterprise IT environment.
Possesses an innovative mindset with the ability to conceptualize
and articulate how AI can transform IT operations and solve
business problems.
Professional certification in IT (e.g. Google ACE, Google
Professional Collaboration Engineer, Linux +, AWS) highly
valued.
